What are Microaggressions
Microaggressions are intentional or unintentional actions or statements with negative undertones directed at a minority group member. They are often subtle in nature, which can lead to one of at least 3 things: (1) You dismiss it as nothing, (2) You question your level of sensitivity, (3) You wind up feeling emotionally exhausted and mentally fatigued. One of the issues with microaggressions is in the name…”micro-”. While they can be deemed as small, insignificant accidents by the one who says them, these mini mental/emotional attacks eventually take a toll on the receiver.
Listen to learn some ways of how to handle microaggressions in the workplace.
