Today's episode features a conversation with Rabbi Richard Birnholz, Rabbi Emeritus at Congregation Schaarai Zedek in Tampa, FL. Rabbi Birnholz joined us back in February on Episode 7 for a discussion of Numbers and Deuteronomy.
On this episode, Rabbi Birnholz, Celia Ferman, and Mat Hotho discuss the book of Jeremiah and how the lessons of Jeremiah inform ancient and modern Jewish communities. Rabbi Birnholz suggests that Jeremiah’s political shrewdness preserved the Jewish people and provided a model for modern day Jewish communities living in the Diaspora.
