Jerika grew up in Vallejo, California which is a poor city near San Francisco. She talks about her struggles growing up with a young mother and an absent father and step father. She had another step father that provided for the family but didn't like or love her, and it showed. As a result, she grew up a people pleaser constantly searching for his love and approval. Jerika talks about the characteristics of the people pleaser and how they have no baseline for stress. They are searching for external validation from others . She also discusses how people pleasers are very similar to empaths. The key to breaking the cycle of people pleasing is to choose you and say "I'm worth more."
Jerika and Wes talk about how parents don't teach their kids how to interact or communicate. The kids then grow up not knowing how to communicate with their partner.
