Description

So often I put my trust either in myself or in the hands of the world as if it is going to get me somewhere - and it does, but it is not eternal. Cardinal Sarah points directly to the idea that we should fall into the arms of God because he is all we really need. That all things should point directly toward God and an ever deepening relationship with Him. I was recently meeting with a group of men and this is exactly what God placed on my heart to tell them! We meet every few weeks and we go through what we did or did not do in our spiritual lives but often it feels like we are going through a menu and checking boxes. In the silence of my heart during this meeting, I could feel God saying to tell these men what He really wants is a DEEP RELATIONSHIP with each one of them. He does not care about all the things we do but the quality time that we spend with Him in reflection and recollection. This is what brings about conversion in our hearts - a real and substantive change that only God can make within who we are. We continued to talk about the barometer by which we can measure this change - it can often be measured in very little ways where our response has become one of love, one of silence, one of detachment, one of God Himself. I had someone say they are working on their relationship with God. I said that is good but what is really required is just to be open - it is God that does the work with us.
