With everything going on in the world right now, we thought it would be a great time to talk about inclusion. What is inclusion and why should we include people from different races, classes, sexuality, and gender identity? Quite simply because it is right to do so. We've all felt the feeling of being left out or excluded before. It feels like shit. We have the ability to treat everyone with respect, dignity, and kindness. So why don't we? Maybe we do some of the time, maybe even most of the time. But, why is it that we sit back and allow exclusion of others to occur without us speaking up?
My best guess would be fear. We often fear what it will cost us to give up some of the privilege or our current status. This may be true, but do we care enough about common decency, anti-racism, the LGBTQ+ community to speak up? We often fear other people's perceptions and judgement of us. Let them judge. Let them perceive you how they wish. How do YOU want to live? What is YOUR standard for yourself?
