I had the incredible chance to speak to 3 very special people: Jodi Cilley, Founder and President of the Film Consortium San Diego, Holly Shaffner, Military Liaison Officer with Joan & Art Barron Veterans Center at SDSU, as well as a retired Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard and last but not least BMCM Greg L. Via, Command Master Chief, U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Diego. The festival this year will focus on current events, women in the service, and treatment of Black service members post World War II. The GI Film Festival San Diego is one of only a few places in the nation to exclusively celebrate the successes and sacrifices of service members through the medium of film. Go support the festival at GIFilmFestivalSD.org October 1st - 2nd.
