๐พ USDAโs โSummer of Making Agriculture Great Againโ โ but are they really helping farmers? ๐ค
๐ Yesterday, USDA dropped a flashy post on X claiming Sec. Rollins is โfighting every day to put farmers first.โ The problem? Most recent farm payments were approved before he took office. Meanwhile, biofuel policy is stalled, the China trade war is still hurting soybeans, and US row crop farmers are stuck with sky-high costs & low prices.
๐ Markets Recap:
๐ฝ Dec25 corn tested early-week lows before late buying brought prices back to even.
๐ซ Nov25 soybeans filled their July chart gap but reversed lower.
๐ China is booking Brazilian beans during the US export window โ 12+ million tons already locked in! A 23% tariff keeps US soy uncompetitive, even though weโre $40/ton cheaper without it.
๐ฆ Export Sales:
โ
Corn โ 2.05 MMT new crop sales, up 156% from last year, with Mexico leading buyers.
โ
Soybeans โ 1.1 MMT sold, but China bought zero.
โ
Wheat โ 722,800 MT, South Korea in the lead.
๐ฆ Weather & Drought:
Corn Belt rains missed the worst drought spots. Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, and Ohio saw dryness worsen.
Corn in drought: 4%
Soybeans: 3%
Winter wheat: 29%
Spring wheat: 16%
Cattle: 14%
๐ญ John Deere Update: Tariffs may cost Deere $600M in 2025 despite beating Q3 earnings estimates. Theyโre hoping future trade deals & tax policy can help offset the pain.
๐ข Flash Sales: Two new US corn deals โ 136k MT to South Korea & 132k MT to Spain. New crop sales are up 108% year-over-year!
