Alma, Amulek and the other missionaries with them begin teaching the Zoramites. Alma finds success among the poor class of people. He explains to them that they need not be concerned about worshiping God only in a synagogue or only praying to him in a synagogue. He teaches them what it means to have faith. He compares the word of God unto a seed and exhorts them to try the experiment upon his words. He explains that if they would give place for the seed to be planted and to nourish that seed, then it would take place in their hearts and grow unto a tree. Ultimately it would produce the fruit in their lives.
Amulek expounds on the words of Alma by teaching about the Atonement of Christ. He explains the law of mercy and the law of Justice. He explains that if we cry unto God and seek forgiveness, the atonement will have an effect in our lives. He teaches that we need to go to God in prayer continually.
Many Zoramites are converted and are expelled from their lands. They go to the land of Jershon where the people of Ammon take them in. Ultimately, the Nephites prepare for battle as the Zoramites and Lamanites seek to over power them.
Alma continues to see the hardness of the hearts of the Nephites. He gathers all of his sons together and SEPARATELY, he instructs them.
