In the book of Acts, Luke doesn't start with the church but with the final moments of Jesus on earth and His ascension. What's often overlooked is actually one of the most powerful moments of the ministry of Jesus. Jesus didn't retire to heaven, He ascended to the right hand - it was a promotion. Had He stayed He could have led a church but now He is the head of THE church.
