Hunger is a driving force, it compels us. In Genesis 24, we see where hunger trips up Esau into giving his birthright away for a bow of soup. There is a constant temptation to turn to the creation over the Creator when it comes to our satisfaction. But what if we starved our flesh and fed our spirit? What happens when we hunger for God more than our next meal? This is fasting.
Fasting helps us know God better.
Fasting drives out sin and helps us to overcome temptation.
Fasting is pursuing a vertical solution to our horizontal problems.
Fasting creates access for the supernatural power of God to work in our lives.
