Description

For your listening enjoyment in these troubled times, Cali High has created a very special episode. In our sixth episode, we speak with Bobby Ackerly, original member of the Brotherhood of Eternal Love. We talk about the original importation of Mexican Marijuana and Afghan Hashish into California in the 1960’s and early 1970’s. Ackerly addresses the Brotherhood’s involvement with LSD and the effect it had on a generation. We retrace smuggling routes through Europe and into Afghanistan and back. We explain the origin of Maui Wowie, a Hawaiian strain grown on Maui, as well as the origins of the Brotherhood from friends in junior high in Anaheim, California, to a worldwide smuggling ring centered in Laguna Beach, Northern California and Maui. We read a few paragraphs from Orange Sunshine, a book by Nicholas Shou, for reference.

This episode is dedicated to the memory of Joe Frank
