This week's theme for the podcast is: Grow Your Mindset
Taking the time to grow your mindset allows you to adapt to change & flex when necessary, much easier & quicker than if you didn't work on it.
My hope with these tips on growing your mindset is that doing so will contribute to your daily work of becoming your best self & achieving your desired goals.
Here are some notes from today's episode:
- No one is perfect. It’s a fact & something we should all accept if we don’t already.
- Let’s start by talking about some key facts in regards to perfectionism & first up is making sure everyone knows that being a perfectionist is NOT striving to be your best.
- Perfectionism is also destructive to yourself because no one is perfect & you are killing yourself for something that is a fantasy.
- And trying to be perfect is a terrible addiction & a tough habit to stop.
- One of the best first ways to embrace your imperfections is to get over being obsessed with what others think of you. It doesn’t help you become a better person or accomplish anything important.
- You need to be your true self & not rely on others' impressions of you to dictate who you are & how you live your life. You can’t truly connect with others on an honest level until you do so as your true, authentic self.
- Next, view your failures as a step closer to your end goal. And if the word ‘failure’ is a bit harsh, I suggest you use the work mistake instead. It’s a lot gentler on your mind.
- Give yourself room to mess up & not be perfect, which will help negate your need to be perfect, if you struggle with that. And be kind to yourself if you are having a hard time giving yourself that room. It will take some time to wean away from perfectionist tendencies.
- And hopefully this doesn’t offend anyone, but by being ok with making mistakes & accepting those mistakes fully, you are more authentic & relatable to others.
- Also, see challenges as opportunities to grow & learn. (I talk about this ALL THE TIME, I know.)
- Challenges will help you grow as a person & teach you new things & expose things you may need to work on. And all of those things are ok.
- Lastly, know & accept your worth. Just because you make mistakes & aren’t perfect doesn’t mean you aren’t worth something.
- Like I mentioned, no one is perfect & even those who are as close as they can get aren’t any better than you. And they are probably in more pain than you because trying to be perfect is ALL they are thinking about all the time that it hurts other things in their life.
- Be grateful for the mistakes you make & the learning lessons you gain from those experiences.
