Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!
Thank you so much for joining me again!
Happy Thursday!
This week our theme for the podcast is: Emotions
Emotions can be a tricky thing to navigate and understand, which is why I want to spend some time breaking down how to identify if you are struggling with something specific and my advice on how to tackle it for the better.
Here are some thoughts & encouragement on how to combat tough emotions.
Here are some notes from today's episode:
- Anger is another thing that I grew up learning how to be all too well.
- I grew up being taught that anger is the emotion that will get things done, which I hate.
- I have gotten anger under control a lot easier than some other emotions, but it for sure took some time & focus.
- Anger is generally an emotion that people use to mask deep feelings that are going on.
- Anger could also be fueled by other emotions below the surface, like jealousy, shame and loneliness.
- Anger is volatile and can hurt everything around us.
- If you struggle with anger, I have a few tips to help with the management of it.
- First off, it’s important to learn the warning signs on when you are about to get anger and wanting to spew it everywhere. For me, I can physically feel it bubbling in my body & that’s how I know I need to take a step back.
- Which leads me to my second suggestion, which is to take a step back from the situation & breath, if possible.
- Another tip that works the best for me is to exercise. I just feel like all the pent up energy and stress inside me can be released by weightlifting and moving my body. Not only is it an outlet for anger & stress, but I am still doing something good for myself.
- My last suggestion is to express your anger in an assertive way, not confrontational. Get out what you need to say so that an actual resolution can come from it. It’s also important to think about the repercussions of what being angry would be for you.
- And as always, there is always to option to reach out for professional help.
Please share this podcast with anyone that may need this encouragement!
