Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!
Thank you so much for joining me again!
Happy Thursday!
This week's theme for the podcast is: Top 5 Most Unpleasant Emotions
This week I am going to be chatting about what I feel are the top 5 most unpleasant emotions that we all experience at one time or another.
The emotions I chat about today are all ones we have experienced in our lives, but may have struggled to overcome on our own. I want to share with you a few steps/ideas each day on how to overcome the burden these emotions bring & what to do moving forward.
Here are some notes from today's episode:
- Jealousy is super unpleasant because it’s something you feel deep down in your core. It kind of takes over your mind & prevents you from truly enjoying anything else in your life because you are so caught up in your own feelings of insecurity & unrest.
- Jealousy can be seen as thoughts or feelings of insecurity, fear & concerns of not having equally distributed resources. It’s truly coveting what someone else has. It can also be the insecure feelings that can occur in a relationship when one person feels threatened by the actions of the other.
- Some research says that jealousy in relationships is healthy because it will help you become aware of when a relationship is in danger of falling apart because of deep negative feelings. Fear of abandonment, low self-esteem and being neurotic also fold into jealousy in conjunction to relationships.
- On the other hand, jealousy in regards to feeling envious or comparing yourself can only make you more aware of how deep your insecurity goes & how unhappy you are with your own life. Research says that specifically jealousy involves 3 people & envy, closely related to jealousy, involves 2 people. Jealousy will cause people to take precautionary measures to prevent the other person from getting attention else where or losing them completely to someone else. Envy is when you want something that someone else has.
- Jealousy, on either side, is toxic. It can make you miserable & potentially ruin relationships.
- Today I’m going to give you 10 steps to overcome both jealousy & envy. 5 steps for jealousy & 5 for envy:
- Step 1: You first have to admit what you’re feeling..
- Step 2: Understand that loving someone comes with risks of heart break.
- Step 3: Don’t let your past wounds get in the way.
- Step 4: Learn to free yourself from anger & resentment.
- Step 5: Trust them or let them go.
- Step 6: Accept that no one has it all.
- Step 7: Practice gratitude.
- Step 8: Avoid people that value the wrong things.
- Step 9: Spend more time indulging in what you enjoy.
- Step 10: Celebrate the success of others.
