Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!
Thank you so much for joining me again!
Happy Thursday!
This week's theme for the podcast is: Stop Giving Up On Yourself
It can be so easy to give up on ourselves when tough situations come along, which is why I thought it would be super helpful to talk about different ways we give up on ourselves & how to overcome those negative trends.
I hope this week's episodes are helpful on how to stop giving up on yourself when the going gets tough & give you the strength & knowledge to keep going & be your best self.
Here are some notes from today's episode:.
- Despite what it is that causes you to feel overwhelmed, whether it is relationships, your job, past trauma, lack of sleep, financial issues or mental health stress, the common denominator is that these things are creating more stress in your life that you don’t need.
- And know, that when you are having those thoughts of feeling overwhelming that it’s all in your mind & not your actual reality.
- I know it can get a little stressful & overwhelming when you start a new project, new job, new anything, but just know & believe that things will come together in the end. This comes back to having the right mindset when all your brain wants to do is take a deep dive into negativity.
- And I understand that new responsibilities & challenges bring on the stress hardcore, but take a step back & evaluate the situation for what it is, just something new that you will eventually adapt to. And if you don’t, that’s still no problem, just ask for help.
- Now, sometimes we make things bigger in our minds than it actually is. And as always, I am not here to diminish your feelings or emotions, but sometimes our sense of reality is off. The best way to evaluate whether this is true or not is to step away from your issues & help someone else with theirs, like volunteering or donating your time some other way.
- And know that people are out there rooting for you. It may not feel like it, but those close to you want you to succeed.
- Tips: Pinpoint what exactly is causing you to feel overwhelmed. It could feel like a lot of things, but what it the core source? The best way to figure this out is to ask yourself, “What things could I take off my plate right now that would alleviate most of this stress?”
- Create boundaries in your life, personal & work.
- Being a perfectionist can really pile on the overworked & overwhelmed feelings because you are trying to do more than you are physically capable of & you know it. You have to be reasonable with yourself, lighten your load & lower your sky high expectations.
- Lastly, let go of your limiting beliefs. Example: You do not accomplish everything you set out to do or feel like things will or have fallen through the cracks, you believe you are a failure. Or that if you aren’t there to be helpful then you will be seen as unneeded & not as valuable. I know it can be quite easy to fall into this way of thinking because your expectations for yourself were too high, but know that if you take the time to eliminate those thoughts over time, you will be released from these beliefs & give yourself freedom to make mistakes & live your life.
