Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!
Thank you so much for joining me again!
Happy Wednesday!
This week's theme for the podcast is: Habits for Happiness
This week I want to talk about some important habits to include in your daily life to cultivate more happiness on the regular.
Hopefully, these tips will assist you in whatever journey you are on in your life & make your experiences more enjoyable!
Here are some notes from today's episode:
- I know I always talk about gratitude, but it’s something we should be highlighting all the time.
- Allowing gratitude into your life is one of the best ways to invite more happiness into your life. Being thankful for what you have & for those in your life is really comforting & fulfilling.
- Let’s talk about some easy ways to practice gratitude: Start a gratitude journal or just a place where you list at least 4 things, big or small, that you are grateful for each day.
- Spend more time with loved ones & those important in your life. Make intentional time for those closest to you, remind them how much you care about them & continue to cherish the moments you get to grow closer.
- One of the most known ways of practicing gratitude is to volunteer with any special skills you have or simply your time. Helping others is so fulfilling & will help to humble you when helping those that have less than you.
- Making an impact in your local community can better your perspective on life & give you a sense of contentment.
- Even just saying thank you more will help you practice gratitude outloud & everyone loves to hear that type of appreciation.
- Now let's talk about empathy. It’s so important to be fully empathetic when someone needs us. And being empathetic needs to be a selfless act.
- Some great empathetic skills to have are first off, practice being an active listener. Do not underestimate the power of just sitting with someone & fully listening to someone without having your own inner dialogue going on. This also includes not interrupting.
- And make sure you are treating the other person with kindness, not pity or sympathy.
- If given the chance, ask more follow-up questions that allow your friend to open up more.
- One of the most important things to remember is to not minimize their feelings. Don’t say things like, “It’s not that bad,” or “it could be worse.” On top of this, do not offer unsolicited advice. If they want advice, they will ask for it. Sometimes people just want you to listen & are not wanting a fix for their problem.
- It’s okay to let them feel what they are feeling. There will be a time for encouraging them to look on the bright side.
- Lastly, refrain from judging them or making the conversation about you. You don’t need to jump in with what you would do or how you dealt with something similar yourself. Make sure the focus is on them fully.
Please share this podcast with anyone that may need this encouragement!
Thank you again for listening & I hope this episode was helpful.
