Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!
Thank you so much for joining me again!
Happy Thursday!
This week's theme for the podcast is: Top 10 Mental Health Tips
This week we are going to speak about my favorite tips for overcoming regular, everyday struggles we all deal with at some point that is related to our mental health.
Join me in going over my favorite top 10 tips for getting through some of the biggest life struggles.
Here are some notes from today's episode:
- Number 1, Decide Your Ideal Workout Time. This is the thing that helped me the most. By not leaving the opportunity to workout to chance, I had a higher chance of actually going to the gym. And I’m not saying that you have to choose one time & go with that forever, but do what will work best for your life.
- Number 2, Start Where You Are. A lot of times it can be really tempting to just jump into doing as many reps as possible or trying to go 7 days a week, 1 hour per day. But you have to be real with yourself & start where you can start.
- Number 3, Choose Some Goals. It’s best to go into a fitness journey with some actual goals & ideals you want to accomplish, but again be reasonable. Don’t just tell yourself in a month you want to bench press half your body weight. Choose realistic goals for yourself & if you are unsure of what an attainable goal would be for yourself, ask someone that is experienced or familiar with fitness to help.
- Number 4, Remember that it is supposed to be fun. Yes, it will be hard in the beginning, but it should also be enjoyable, as well. Make sure you choose the exercise style that will allow you to enjoy your workout time.
- Number 5, Consider Your Diet. I do not know anything about dieting, but I do know that you should be trying to choose more veggies, fruits & proteins than anything else. And I am for sure not telling you to avoid everything at all. Just to find your healthy balance.
- Number 6, Understand There Will Be Setbacks. You can’t win everything all the time, so understand that there will be setbacks, you will regress, but a lot of times after regression comes significant progression. Just don’t let yourself give up. It’s not worth it to give up after all that time spent & energy committed.
- Number 7, Give Yourself Rewards. Every time you hit a milestone, give yourself a reward. It could just be shouting out in excitement that you hit the goal, or maybe you run a race & reward yourself with a massage, or you finally hit a squat goal & decide to treat yourself to a new gym bag or lifting gloves.
- Number 8, Create A Vision Board. I love the idea of creating a vision board in regards to fitness, but you could also just add your fitness things to your general vision board, too. You can keep it old school & cut out pics to add of exercises you want to become stronger at, how many reps you want to hit, or maybe you are saving up for to buy a specific piece of fitness equipment.
- Number 9, It’s Not About Looking Like Someone Else. It’s just not. It’s about achieving the greatest version of yourself, not someone you saw on Instagram or in a magazine.
- Number 10, Add It Into Everyday Life.
