This week's theme for the podcast is: Let's Quit Together
This week I want to talk to you about how we can stop engaging in behaviors that aren't helping us become our best selves.
Making the decision to quit doing things like gossiping, saying sorry all the time or sacrificing sleep will help us focus more on what is actually important in our lives, lean more towards the positive & become our best selves.
Here are some notes from today's episode:
- Fear. It just takes over our lives. It changes our view on reality in an instant because we can cause ourselves to believe certain things, especially if it’s based in previous experiences & beliefs that we grew up on.
- Fear can lead you down some paths that will just deepen your fears more & more. A lot of times you will settle for less than you want because you are afraid to take next steps to go after the things you really want. There is also the drive to be seen as perfect as possible so that you can avoid any criticisms or judgements, which you are in fear of receiving from people you want acceptance from.
- And you know how I talk about boundaries a lot? Living in fear will also cause you to lack boundaries & say yes when you really need to say no. And to not share your opinion or true feelings with others because of any possible backlash.
- And you may not realize it, but fear causes a lot of inner pain, which can lead to you needing to numb that pain with alcohol, food or having the distraction of being too busy.
- Living in fear will really hold you back from almost everything in your life. If you are constantly worrying about how you are going to impress someone or if you are going to fail at doing this or if you will embarrass yourself doing that, you will always be constantly overwhelmed & the fear will continue to build up.
- So let’s talk about some tips on how to quit living your life in fear:
- 1. Re-evaluate the way you’re thinking. You don’t have to always do things the same way you always have.
- 2. Look deeply at the things you’re afraid of & start to poke holes.
- 3. Adopt a growth mindset. Understand that mistakes & failures are the best ways to learn.
- 4. Live your life more in the present.
