Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!
Thank you so much for joining me again!
This week's theme for the podcast is: Let's Quit Together
This week I want to talk to you about how we can stop engaging in behaviors that aren't helping us become our best selves.
Making the decision to quit doing things like gossiping, saying sorry all the time or sacrificing sleep will help us focus more on what is actually important in our lives, lean more towards the positive & become our best selves.
Here are some notes from today's episode:
- What better way to wrap up this topic by speaking on sleep, which is crazy important to all of us.
- Sleep is something so many of us take for granted. You just decide that four, five or six hours is enough for you. But what really happens is you continue to live in that reality & get less & less sleep & feel like you’re never going to recover.
- And sleep might be something that is on the bottom of your list & just not really important to you because you feel like all the things you are doing in place of sleep are more important. But you may feel this way because you can’t remember how it felt to have a full night of sleep. You may have forgotten how much better you feel during the day when you have slept more than 5 hours & really aren’t feeling unbelievably exhausted by the end of the day.
- But let’s go over the obvious reasons why sacrificing sleep isn’t a great option:
- There’s always moodiness, irritation & sometimes lack of clarity. There is also concern for high blood pressure, weakened immune system, weight gain, depression & so many other things.
- I know from experience that lack of sleep is terrible on your body. I got so sick from working a night shift job, coming home to nap for 90 minutes, then getting up to take my kid to school & then still go do work for 2 hours. I would then rush home to sleep until it was time to pick my kid up from school, come home to nap a little more & then go to work. It was the worst thing for my body, for sure. It contributed to me developing my autoimmune disease.
- And honestly, the more you sacrifice sleep for investing time into relationships or projects that you feel are more important to you, the less & less you will be able to do that because the exhaustion from not sleeping will add up. You can only go so far as sacrificing your sleep.
- So let’s chat about some ways you can quit sacrificing sleep:
- 1. Realize how getting more sleep could better your overall life.
- 2. Start slow with getting to bed earlier. Find the perfect amount of sleep.
- 3. Find other pockets of time for personal time.
- uncomfortable & don’t let someone else abuse you.
