This week's theme for the podcast is: Stop Doing These Things
This week I am going to be chatting about some behaviors & mindsets I encourage you to stop indulging in & practicing.
I know it can be super easy to get caught up in certain behaviors that are normal to us & that we are in the habit of doing often, but it’s important to realize what behaviors & mindsets that we are engaged in that aren't really helping us & causing us more harm or setbacks.
Here are some notes from today's episode:
- What better way to end the week by talking about how we don’t like talking about emotions?
- Now I am not going to spend a lot of time on this because I am constantly talking about why being in touch with your emotions is an important thing & necessary to knowing yourself better & becoming your best self.
- But I do want you to know that it’s crucial that you figure out the best for you to express your feelings, whether in private and/or with others, it’s important you do not keep everything balled up inside.
- And let me make mention of some benefits of bettering your emotional intelligence: better empathy & relatability with others, more positive relationships with others, & emotional resilience.
- If you practice keeping your emotions all tied up & un-dealt with, you could develop anxiety or depression. But by facing your emotions full on, it can be a way to release whatever pain you are running away from.
- And I understand the trouble if the reason you want to avoid your feelings is because you don’t want them to rule your life, but there are ways to achieve balance in this.
- Today I am going to give you 6 steps on how to be more in touch with your emotions, but not let these run your life.
- Step 1: Learn to Regulate Rather Than Suppress
- Step 2: Identify What You Are Feeling
- Step 3: Accept All Your Emotions As Valid
- Step 4: Schedule It In
- Step 5: Pause Before You React
- Step 6: Learn to Vent in Healthy Ways
