Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!
Thank you so much for joining me again!
Happy Monday!
This week's theme for the podcast is: Stop Doing These Things
This week I am going to be chatting about some behaviors & mindsets I encourage you to stop indulging in & practicing.
I know it can be super easy to get caught up in certain behaviors that are normal to us & that we are in the habit of doing often, but it’s important to realize what behaviors & mindsets that we are engaged in that aren't really helping us & causing us more harm or setbacks.
Here are some notes from today's episode:
- This week I thought it would be helpful to talk about some behaviors & mindsets we all should be aware of & stop doing as soon as possible.
- I know it can be super easy to get caught up in certain behaviors that are normal to us & that we are in the habit of doing often, but it’s important to realize what behaviors & mindsets that we are engaged in that aren't really helping us & causing us more harm or setbacks.
- And it can be tough to have those honest moments with yourself to start the steps for change, but it’s absolutely integral that you do so.
- Today specifically we are going to be talking about steps to take to stop being a victim.
- Now let’s talk about what is & how victim mentality comes about.
- From an outsider's perspective, those that have victim mentality can seem like they are very dramatic, but this mentality can actually derive from being a victim of a trauma or abuse situation. Having to endure negative experiences back to back can also cause this kind of mentality to happen.
- And it seems that victim mentality rest on 3 specific beliefs: you believe bad things always happen to you, others or circumstances are to blame for those things happening & there is no sense in trying to change because it’s not going to work out anyway.
- And those that struggle with this always seem to struggle with responsibility, not wanting to work on any change because they are so negative & don’t truly believe change will make a difference, along with feeling powerless & negative in your self-talk.
- This can all take a toll on their emotional well-being, which is tough & can weigh heavily on them, especially with the mindset that nothing is ever going to get better.
- And as I mentioned before, this can develop from past traumas, betrayals or codependency.
- Now let’s chat about what can be done to stop being a victim. I’m going to give you 6 steps to try:
- Step 1: Stop Blaming Others & Take Responsibility
- Step 2: Work On Saying ‘No’ So You Don’t Do Something You Don’t Want to Do
- Step 3: Practice Gratitude
- Step 4: Practice Forgiveness
- Step 5: Turn Your Focus Outward to Help Others
- Step 6: Discover the Root Cause of Your Powerlessness
Please share this podcast with anyone that may need this encouragement!
