Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!
Thank you so much for joining me again!
Happy Friday!
This week's theme for the podcast is: Top 5 Most Unpleasant Emotions
This week I am going to be chatting about what I feel are the top 5 most unpleasant emotions that we all experience at one time or another.
The emotions I chat about today are all ones we have experienced in our lives, but may have struggled to overcome on our own. I want to share with you a few steps/ideas each day on how to overcome the burden these emotions bring & what to do moving forward.
Here are some notes from today's episode:
- We all know that stress is unpleasant because it makes everything else in life overwhelming & unenjoyable.
- There is an amount of stress that is healthy for everyone to experience on a regular basis, but when it gets in the way of everyday life, it’s a real problem. Stress can help you when danger is present, but when it comes from everyday events on the regular, it’s crossed the line.
- Stress can come from any event that causes you frustration, nervousness or anger. It’s the body’s demand to a challenge or demand.
- Here are some common signs of stress: headaches, stomach issues, insomnia, becoming sick often, feeling overwhelmed or easily agitated, difficulty relaxing, clenched jaw & teeth grinding, constant worrying, inability to focus & pessimism.
- Today I’m going to give you 7 steps to overcoming stress in your life.
- Step 1: Create Boundaries. Personal boundaries are lifesavers & just saying ‘no’ more often when you don’t want to do something or aren’t able to is super helpful.
- Step 2: Shift Your Mindset. If you are struggling with Perfectionism, being a People Please or anything related, you have to work on shifting your mindset to more positive ideals & train of thoughts.
- Step 3: Identify Your Unhealthy Coping Mechanisms. When you are stressed, what do you find yourself doing to deal with it that really isn’t working but you tell yourself it is in the moment? Habits like sleeping all the time, over-eating, pulling away from social activities, excessive drinking, or taking your feelings out on others isn’t the way to deal with your stress. Identify what your negative coping mechanisms are & replace those with healthier & more hopeful habits.
- Step 4: Work On Time Management Skills. If you find a lot of stress stemming from getting behind on things or being late, work on creating a calendar system or todo list that works best for you. Even setting your clocks could help if you are chronically late.
- Step 5: Don’t Let Others Meddle In Your Life.
- Step 6: Exercise. Whatever type of movement you are into, do it to get that release of endorphins & experience relaxation & a bonus, being productive.
- Step 7: Speak with a professional.
Please share this podcast with anyone that may need this encouragement!
