Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!
Thank you so much for joining me again!
Happy Monday!
This week's theme for the podcast is: Being Brave
It's important we know that being brave is not pretending that fear doesn't exist, but that we can push past it & still conquer our goals & live our lives!
Join me in learning more about being brave this week!
Here are some notes from today's episode:
- This week I thought it would be helpful to talk about being brave because I know that many people, including myself, have trouble with being brave, especially in times where we really want to be brave, but everything about fear causes us to cower.
- I personally have been having issues with being brave because the unknown scares me so much. I have the biggest issue with getting past all my worries & thought out worst-case scenarios. And this has prevented me from stepping out of my comfort zone so many times & trying new things. This fear of failure.
- And despite me giving you advice this week all about how to be more brave, what it means to be brave, why it matters & everyday examples, being brave still boils down to you making the choice, the decision, to stop letting fear get in your way of doing things differently.
- Let’s chat about what exactly it means to be brave. To be brave, it means to have the mental strength to face fear, dangers or difficulties. To be brave, you have to listen to that voice inside your head that is telling you you can do it. It’s saying you can do anything. And you can do anything because fear is going to show up no matter what & but that doesn’t mean it has to hold you back.
- By honoring the voice inside you, may it be big, small or somewhere in the middle, you are being your brave self & tapping into that inner mental strength.
- And it is said that being brave & courageous is not the absence of fear, but the ability to manage & overcome their emotional response to fear. This means you are in charge of what you do & how you react, rather than solely your emotions.
- And when you are brave, you are able to sit in the unknown & it does not scare you to death. I’m not saying there won’t be any fear there at all, but any fear that does creep up will not deter you from trying, from changing, from doing something new.
- I want to make sure you understand that being brave does not mean you won’t be scared at times or have second thoughts. You will, but true bravery will kick those things to the curb & push you to try, despite those things. Being brave means pressing on despite the fear you will face & challenges that will come.
- Being brave is an admirable quality, but is more often than not attributed to people that do really big things, like a fireman that saves a family, & that’s just not all true. Being brave can be as simple as just finally deciding to get the professional help you need to manage your anxiety or depression.
- The act of bravery can be a scary situation, be really overwhelming & not easy at all, but generally worth it in the end.
