Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!
Thank you so much for joining me again!
Happy Monday!
This week's theme for the podcast is: Minimalism & the Mind
This week we are going to speak about how minimalism can positively affect your mindset & make it easier to enjoy your life & the truly important parts.
Join me in learning more about minimalism & how it relates to your daily mindset.
Here are some notes from today's episode:
- Minimalism can be thought about in two different ways. It can be about having as little personal items as possible & just being the best declutter-er. It can also be about wanting to live with less possessions, but also with intention.
- Just trying to be the best declutter-er is easy, but shouldn’t be the only goal. The idea of minimalism isn’t just about getting rid of all your stuff, but more about getting rid of what you don’t need & focusing on being intentional with the things you do need.
- Another way to think about it is having a clear understanding of what we value most in life & intentionally highlighting those things because those are important & getting rid of things that take time & focus away from the things that actually matter most.
- It’s important to note that everyone’s version of being a minimalist is different. There aren’t any specific rules you have to follow, you just need to do what is best for you.
- But it is important to have a plan going into becoming a minimalist, so you know what you want to get out of practicing this type of lifestyle. And yes, the journey is just as important as the goal, but you might get distracted on your journey if you don’t have a goal in mind.
- What everyone values is different, which is why your version of minimalism won’t be the exact same as someone else’s. The biggest important factor is that you determine what is most important to you, then get rid of what doesn’t align with that & go along with your values.
- Minimalism can be a lot of different things to different people, but there are some things it is not. As mentioned before, it’s not just about getting rid of everything. And we shouldn’t be just focusing on what we are giving up, but what we are gaining by giving up those things that don’t bring additional value to your life.
- It’s also important to note that being a minimalist doesn’t mean you have to spend as little as possible, or not collect items you love & cherish, or that you have to live in empty rooms. A lot of minimalists do spend money on things, but it’s more of an investment of quality items so that there is less replacing having to happen. There is more value in items like that. Same goes for collectables. You just have to be sure those things bring you value in your life. And as far as living in empty rooms, if that is what you want, you should do it. But if not, then just live with what you need, what will truly make you happy & what will keep you focused on what is important.
