Hello Everyone & Welcome to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!
Today on the show I am talking about: What Does Self Love Look Like?
How often are you making time for self-love?
I'm pretty bad about making time to do it, but I know it's super important to our mental health to put ourselves first & actually take care of ourselves.
Today I am chatting about what self-love looks like, which should give us some ideas on how to add it into our lives.
Here are some notes from today's episode:
- Self love is underrated. A lot of us pass up providing ourselves self love because we make so many other things in our lives more important. We think that there will always be time for loving ourselves after we do all these other things. But the thing that I have realized over time is if you put it off for too long, you will have a lot to make up for than you would if you practiced self love on the regular.
- And just so we are all on the same page, self love is the appreciation of yourself, with this appreciation growing the more we support our physical, psychological & spiritual needs. It’s having a high regard for your own well-being & happiness & taking care of your own needs & not sacrificing your well-being to please others. And this appreciation can mean something different for everyone & can happen in many different ways, depending on the person.
- And taking the time to figure out what self love looks like for you is pretty important to your mental health. Self-love can motivate us to make healthier choices & cause us to nurture ourselves better the more we do it.
- So let’s chat about what self love can look like with a few examples:
- 1. Being unapologetic about what heals you & makes you better & stronger.
- 2. Trusting your own process, even with people who don’t agree.
- 3. Changing your mind if something doesn’t feel right or doesn’t work out the way you imagined.
- 4. Taking as much time as you need to heal & understand what you’re going through or have gone through.
- 5. Spending less time in toxic environments.
- 6. Saying no when you don’t want to do something or be involved.
- 7. Taking a break from self-judgement.
