On this week's episode, J.Mix is joined by two sensational NOLA actors, Monica R. Harris, and Martin "Bats" Bradford to discuss the perils of colorism in America, more specifically in New Orleans, where it runs unapologetically rampant in the black community. (SIDE NOTE: Colorism IS, in fact, underlined in red because it is, apparently not considered a real word.) They also discuss "light skin privilege" and why it should be taken with the same severity as the BLM Movement's efforts to address the existence of white privilege. The trio, furthermore, touch on how light-skinded BIPOC individuals can utilize their strengths to elevate the voices of their melanin-rich brothas and sisters. AND they explore their individual privileges and strengths in combating colorism in the BIPOC community.
