Today we talk about the default way of life we each live into that we are often unaware of. Seeing this can help us better turn from our false story and toward the True story God is calling us into.
Possible False Stories (not an exhaustive list) - these become our false stories when they are the PRIMARY way that we determine what is true:
- Rationalism - what is logical & makes sense is what is true
- Perfectionism - the truth is that my worth is my perfection
- Individualism - autonomy, my joy decides what is true
- Consumerism - what I have tells the truth about who I am
- Pragmatism - whatever works and is practical is true
- Romanticism - what I feel is what is true
- American Civil Religion - morality, what is palatable is what is true
- Progressivism - truth is that things will always get better and improve
- Postmodernism - there is no one truth, all truths are equal
