Overwhelm and stress come from an unmanaged mind. The more you can see where you are leaking energy, the less need you will have to "unwind" in the evenings.
You can mitigate your desires for alcohol by spending time with your thoughts are pulling your attention away.
You only have so much bandwidth in a day, how do you want to spend it?
You can look at just the habit of alcohol, but you also have to understand the WHY you are drinking. When you learn to intentionally place your attention on that which you would like to cultivate, and find closure in the stories that repeat again and again, you will be more successful in every other area of your life.
