Description

This week we’re changing things up on Culturally Speaking and welcoming a guest to the podcast for the very first time - welcome Nick! If you’ve ever been to Belfast on the 12th July you might have seen towering bonfires lit across the city and this week’s guest is here to tell us all about Eleventh Night. The tradition has significant historical relevance as it marks the victory of Protestant King William of Orange over Catholic King James II at the Battle of the Boyne, north of Dublin, in 1690 – a triumph that secured a Protestant line of succession to the British Crown. Tune in to find out how many types of bread you can expect with your breakfast in Belfast and what a bap chap is (a clue, it’s nothing to do with food!). Stay Cultured, J & N xoxo. Please take a moment to subscribe, review and comment. We’d love to hear from you @culturallyspeakingpodcast.
