This week we are continuing our Black History Month coverage with a recap of 2000's The Color of Friendship. We both really enjoyed this movie and can honestly say we learned a lot from it! The Color of Friendship tells the (mostly) true story of Congressman Ron Dellums whose family hosted a white South African exchange student at the height of his fight against apartheid. It's a heavy but extremely informative story, and we are very glad Disney chose to make this film. *However,* since we are just a couple of white millennials who haven't experienced racial discrimination/systemic oppression, we would really love to hear what YOU guys think about this movie, so PLEASE feel free to share your thoughts on social media or via the suggestion box on our website!
*A big trigger warning is in effect for this movie, as it does contain disturbing depictions and discussions of racial violence and discrimination.
