Nobody is privy to God’s secret timetable regarding His appointed judgments.
It seems as if life will continue to go on as in the past without any divine intervention. But God sets judgment in motion in top secret fashion.
Ahab’s drama is approaching its final curtain. Right on cue, Jahu now makes his entrance. Israel will be purged at last of Ahab’s house and the worship of Baal it has introduced. Judah, too, will be cleansed. Even the Davidic line will seem under threat. God’s quiet ways are, for the moment, at an end. Earthquake is the order for the day.

Sermon Conclusion:The reprieve was over, the delay was done. The time Ahab bought by his show of humility had run out. Jehoram’s superficial reform did NOT fool anyone. The disgusting pagan worship of the Baals was at its end.
Habakkuk 2:2
Then the LORD answered me and said: "Write the vision And make it plain on tablets,That he may run who reads it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, It will not tarry longer.
When the judgment of God comes, it will not trickle in but come full throttle, executing justice at the rejection of mercy!
