"Those eyes which had looked upon him with wonder at first, now began to glare with the eyes of wild beasts. Those tongues which were ready to give him applause, now began to howl with indignation. They rose up to slay the preacher; curiosity was turned into indignation; a few hours ago they would have welcomed the prophet to his own country, now they would rather chant, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”
He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shone in the darkness, and the darkness did not get it.!!“ No one ever came on such an errand of love as the Saviour, and no one ever received such treatment at the hands of sinners.”
