As A.W. Tozer says, God reigns in equity. In God’s society His standards for morality are perfectly right and fair and very clearly laid out in the bible. There is no moral standard or set of rules that God must comply to. That would imply that those standards are higher than Him and that He must act in a certain way in accordance to them. He is the highest moral standard and nothing is superior to or outside of Him that He should be obedient to it. Nothing can cause Him to add anything to Himself or remove anything. Nothing can change Him to act in any other way than who He is.

We would not think an earthly judge is a good judge if He let everyone who committed a crime go free. The defendant might think he's a good judge because he's getting away with bad behavior. But the prosecution and the offended would not think justice was served. A good God administers justice. Deut 32:4 – All His ways are just and true. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He.

Ps 94:2 Appeal to “rise up O Judge of the earth” to address the wrongs perpetrated against the weak by arrogant and wicked men who occupy seats of power.” We should be glad, especially for many who have been wronged on earth that the perfect judge of the world will have His final say. God says do not deny or withhold justice to the weak, poor, fatherless, and the alien.

We want instant justice, but that is not always how God administers justice. There will eventually be true justice but He decides when. He will often times, in His mercy, delay justice so give a person time to choose to come to Him and give their heart to Him.

All nations set up some type of legal system to decide what to do when injustices are done. An absence of law would only create chaos. If there are no consequences for wrong action, people will just do what their wicked heart’s desire. In Noah’s days, “every inclination of the thoughts of man’s heart was only evil all the time.” Justice is good, necessary, and beneficial for everyone in any culture. The bible says, by justice a king gives a country stability. When justice is done, it brings joy to the people.

In God’s courtroom there are no hidden truths or any additional facts to be found out. Lies are exposed and motives are revealed before a holy God. God’s administers perfect wisdom. The Jewish leaders broke many laws and brought false accusations against Jesus in order to murder Him. Jesus knows all about injustice. Jesus knew how unjust his accusers were and didn’t defend Himself. He faced injustice to save the world.

Rom 3:26. “God...justifies those who have faith in Jesus.” Justified can be explained as, "just as if I had never sinned." As in an earthly courtroom, there are penalties for wrong behavior in God’s courtroom. Our sin places us under the sentence of death. The bible says no one is righteous and all have sinned, no one can declare themselves to be righteous and no one can make themselves righteous. When our iniquity comes in contact with a just holy God who has pure infinite equity, He must be just. He cannot be persuaded to be less just. Our only plea can be placed upon having put our faith in Jesus and “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Justification means although we deserve to be declared guilty, because we put our trust in Jesus, God cancels the guilt of our sin and credits righteousness to us.

God doesn’t disregard justice when He spares a person from the required legal penalties. God’s shows his mercy only after justice has been satisfied. The penalty was paid when Jesus died on the cross. He was the Substitute, He died in our place. He died so we wouldn’t have to die. Understanding this deep in our hearts over what Jesus did for us has transformed many lives in an offering of thankfulness to receive such a wonderful free gift from God.
