Today we are celebrating 1992s courtroom comedy classic My Cousin Vinny, which celebrated its 30th anniversary on March 14th.
You might notice that this is not a 30 minute show. That’s because this film has so much to talk about that we felt it more worthy of a full episode.
Unlike our last Anniversary Podcast, where we said 1977s Slapshot served as the foundation of many other sports comedies, My Cousin Vinny, while a beloved comedy, doesn’t set the stage for other courtroom comedies, but instead was probably the best courtroom comedy of all time, largely due to its adherence to courtroom procedure, simple and relatable comedic premises, and having a fandom of lawyers and judges who have been known to use this movie in classes and at least in one known incident in 2015, a United States Circuit Court Judge used an actual quote from this film while delivering her judgment on an actual court case. This is all to say that this movie is most certainly worthy of being celebrated, especially on its 30th anniversary.
In this show, we do more than a movie review by delving into the lives of the cast and crew, fan theories, trivia, scene breakdowns, and anything related to the film itself. Needless to say, our shows are a little longer than your average movie review show, but we can assure you that our shows are jam packed with entertaining and interesting discussions. If that sounds like your sort of bag, hang out with Kenny and Del as they get into My Cousin Vinny.
