This episode is a great culmination to 2020! We will not only be talking about COVID-19 and the vaccine, but also about highlighting racism in academic medicine. To help us understand these topics even more, our guest today is Dr. Taison Bell, assistant professor of medicine in the divisions of Infectious Diseases and International Health and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at UVA. Dr. Bell is also the director of the UVA Summer Medical Leadership program and the director of the ICU. He is Highly invested in teaching and was awarded the Inpatient Attending of the Year Award in 2018, and has had writing is many academic journals. He is making an impact by bringing awareness to racism in academic medicine, and caring for UVA's COVID-19 patients while also bolstering the PPE supplies throughout the Virginia area. Recently he was featured on in a NY Times article, "Dad got the vaccine but no one else did- yet".
