“Expressing gratitude to others helps counteract all of the annoying things you may think about them.” I have been writing in my journal a paragraph almost each day about things I am grateful for. It really has been helping me but lately I have felt like I needed to make sure to express that gratitude more regularly. In this episode I share how you can build an upward spiral of positive emotion with someone and reciprocity as you express your appreciation for them. They in turn will be more likely to do the same. I also mention the importance of counteracting our negativity bias. It is too easy to nit pick all the things people do wrong and as we get better at expressing gratitude we have a way to think at least a little more on the things the other person that you appreciate rather than what they do to annoy you. I also share the idea of first to reflect, then to express. I am definitely going to work on this.
