Jacky grew up in Romford Essex in the UK and knew from the age of nine she wanted to be a television and movie director. She directed her first play at the tender age of 17 and hasn’t looked back. The UK-based author/podcaster/radio station owner/non-profit leader and mom like to joke that her “hobby is murder.” She is the author of crime novels “From Makeup to Murder” and from “Vegas to Villany.”
Crime fiction isn’t her only genre, however. Jacky is also the author of the children’s book “The Amazing Adventures of Starr: The Lost Extra.”
Her most recent project is “Method of Murder” (2019) a documentary that traces her travels in the U.S. to perform research for her latest crime novel, available on Amazon Prime.
When writing books, Jacky likes to set aside a box for character research notes, outlines, and dialogue notes as the book begins to take shape. While this may seem to be a departure from apps and software, Jacky swears by this method and recommends it to all aspiring and experienced writers.
In addition to her other roles, Jacky is also a drama teacher and mentor to young actors.
This multi-talented entrepreneur encourages would-be business owners to know their field, surround themselves with people who support their business goals and mission, and to dive in. Her favorite piece of advice? “Don’t talk. Do.”
Like most business owners, Jacky has had her share of missteps along the way but refuses to label them “failures” since she has learned from each one. She is fond of saying, “An entrepreneur will see a way through a closed path.”
Jacky’s plans for her China-based docuseries “Jacky Rom Investigates” are currently on hold due to the worldwide pandemic.
