This is my Mum's thyroid story. Tine (short for Christine) is a pretty amazing woman (bias aside) and has always been my number one fan.
12 months ago, she was diagnosed with Hashimoto's and I'm grateful she has been willing to share the beginning of her thyroid journey with you on the podcast.
Although diagnosed only 12 months ago, Mum looks back and can see related issues since she was a teenager - irregular periods, endometriosis, hormonal issues. She's had her thyroid (TSH only) tested on and off over the years - always normal. Last year after I did a series on common Hashimoto's symptoms, she could really resonate with some symptoms (gut issues, insomnia, joint pain in particular) and with some (less than gentle prompting from me) she insisted her doctor refer her for a full thyroid panel **including thyroid antibodies** and that resulted in a Hashimoto's diagnosis.
