What does your definition of success look like? For most people, it's probably a traditional view. High powered job, maybe that corner office on an upper level floor of an office building overlooking the city and lots and lots of money.
While that may sound successful, a lot of people in that position are miserable in life.
Unfortunately, people tend to follow their idea of success as it takes them away from their friends, family, hobbies and favorite activities just so they can make more money. But once they have that money they wonder if it was worth it.
My guest today is J. Douglas Holladay. He's spent many years working with powerful people. As he says in the interview, he likes to think of his life like that song in Hamilton...He was in the room where it happened. He's seen some of the wealthiest people in the world struggling because they have lost happiness in their life during the search for success.
Maybe it's time we rethink the traditional definition of success. That's our topic today.
