When it comes to health there is no equality. There are the haves and the have somes and the have nots. Each person is dealt a different hand and they're expected to deal with it. What we don't talk about is how everyone's health is interconnected.
Your health is not necessarily determined by how much you work out or how you eat. It can be determined by your social and political conditions, your environment and many other factors about your life.
However, it's not as clear to people how these disparities impact everyone. Disparities impact the quality of our health care, the cost of our health care, and our overall health.
Joining me on the show this week is Dr. Lisa Cooper. Among many other things, Dr. Cooper is the founder and director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity.
