The clocks go back, the leaves fall, the nights draw in and there is mud everywhere. Looking at the alpacas you can tell it is autumn.

What was it that caught your attention when you saw your first alpaca? the mutual watching always makes me smile - in fact, a lot of things alpacas do make me smile.

We seem to have switched seasons here in the UK. What are some of the things we should be thinking of and preparing for?

Season Change Tips

1. Have you got what you need? - Supplies of Vitamin AD&E Paste; hay; protective coats to support elderly or sick alpacas through the winter.
2. Check your alpaca's feet, given all of the wet and muddy weather.
3. Trim fringes where necessary.
4. Check body scores for each animal and record the results - more difficult to see just by looking as the fleece is growing longer.
