Description

Bishop Peter is due to retire in October this year, and the process to choose his successor as Bishop of Sodor and Man has now begun.  It's a long and complicated procedure, designed to make sure the best possible person is appointed, to meet the needs of the Diocese now, and share a vision for its future.  On today's programme we join the Archdeacon, the Venerable Irene Cowell, as she guides us through the process and shares thoughts on the importance of the Bishop's role in Island life.

The open meetings mentioned in the interview are :

Monday 24 July

Kirk Michael Parish Church at 3:15pm

The Abbey Church Hall at 6pm

Both meetings are open to all, and both meetings will last for one hour

Rev'd Canon Dr Michael Leyden is the Dean of Emmanuel Theological College and was a recent visitor to the Island. He joins us on the programme to tell the story of this new college which serves the North West of England (including the Isle of Man) which brings a fresh new approach to ministry training -  and came into being through a couple of miracles!

Michael returns to the programme next week to tell his own story - it's really inspiring - don't miss it!

The boys of Broughton Parish Church Choir are back on the Island for their annual Training Holiday. We feature hymns from the men and boys of the choir on today's programme, and the young choristers would love to see you as they sing Choral Evensong around the Island's churches this week :
