Description

A fierce insurgent for Poland, Albert thought he would find purpose on the battlefield. After losing his leg to a battle wound he decided to leave the war and discovered his gift for creating beautiful art. Eventually becoming a Franciscan, he later founded The Servants of the Poor and dedicated the rest of his life to helping the destitute in society. 

Saint Albert Chmielowski 1845 - 1916. Feast day: June 17.
