Season 1, Episode 2
In Choosing Her Hustle’s second episode of season 1, we hear from Chanel Morales, founder of Chanel Morales Coaching LTD. She is a business coach specializing in helping women to launch online businesses. Chanel knew after two weeks of work at a nine-to-five job, her lifestyle aspirations didn’t live inside the four walls of her office. With her young daughter, Chanel gave up her council home in the UK and journeyed across the word as a digital nomad. She grew her business into what is today – and all of this since 2019!
As a single mother at the age of 19, Chanel found her strength and confidence by seeing her daughter’s behaviors in traditional school. For her to thrive, Chanel decided to world-school her daughter, and they began a journey of learning around the world. She set about change in her life with little money or planning, but a lot of hope and determination.
Chanel is a self-proclaimed “out of the box” thinker. She says life should be fun, and she realized quickly that she wasn’t enjoying it. She even drafted her resignation letter the day before her boss let her go, and it was blessing because she received two months of severance pay, which allowed her to being her journey. She found nomad tools like Airbnb and Workaway. She took an inexpensive trip to Mallorca first. She relied on the advice and generosity of people in her Facebook single-mothers group. She visited the US and spent a few days in several cities like Boston, New York, Washington, Philadelphia, Texas, and Los Angeles. Of all the places she visited and worked in, there’s an area of LA she would rather not revisit, Skid Row.
Chanel discusses balancing motherhood, her clients, her own social media, and growing her business. A faithful day in which she asked the universe to allow her to cut back on social media consumption, she accidentally dropped her phone into the sea. Talk about serendipity!
Leticia shares her “chicken and potatoes” story, which defined her frugality and relationship with money.
Chanel’s top advice: Mindset is number one.
