Description

In this episode, Denise and discuss the question, “How do you not drink?” They acknowledge the willingness to make changes to support mental and/or physical wellness and provide tips and tools for the feelings that may arise in response.

First, Denise and Jackie acknowledge the heaviness swirling around the world. Denise shares how she has spent 37 years of sobriety building a “Black Belt of letting go, and Jackie provides tools she uses to help shift from a reactive to preventative mindset (naps included!).

Then, Denise and Jackie share updates about the podcast, including a future recording studio located in Denise’s garage! This shifts the hosts into a conversation about being concerned with what you look like, and the difference between America and other countries around body acceptance.

From there, Denise and Jackie illustrate the stark difference in generational sober examples. Denise shares a story about seeking acceptance while newly sober and the impact sober role models could have had on her experience — which is why Emergency Protocol’s shift from informative (audio) to community building (video) is incredibly exciting!

Lastly, Denise and Jackie have a conversation about the potentially dangerous path of alternative medicine treatment for addicts and alcoholics and the deep craving it can create in someone going through recovery.
