Boundaries for balance is a concept that has been around a long time. So why are we so bad at setting boundaries. It is actually because setting boundaries to enhance our balance in life and work means we have to say no. Most of us are not good at saying no because we have been taught to help when we can. We feel obligated. Most importantly, there are emotional drivers attached to setting boundaries. We don't want to disappoint others or hurt their feelings. We feel guilty or selfish if we say no. That kind of thinking needs to stop. You can achieve boundaries for balance without being selfish.
