Welcome to our third of four episodes of the 2022 Spiritual Health series, focusing on altruism.
My guest is Andromeda Turre, who studied at The Boston Conservatory and the Berklee College of Music. Raised in a family of Jazz musicians, she learned from such legends as Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, and Wynton Marsalis. She spent two years in Japan as “Queen of the Blues” at Tokyo Disney, starred in Woody Allen’s Murder Mystery Blues, worked as a background singer on Saturday Night Live and with Ray Charles, Jennifer Lopez, and Michael Bublé. She has toured as a solo artist in over 17 countries singing a blend of both Jazz and original music. Her originalcompositions have been used in film, television, and video games around the world. Andromeda hosts her own radio show on SiriusXM. She also hosts her program Growing Up Jazz, which presents an often-neglected view of American History and an opportunity to discuss Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in a creative way. This work has also led her to offer DEI consulting, especially pertaining to the entertainment industry, as well as currently holding the position of Chair of the DEI committee for her hometown of Bedford, NY.
