Description

Welcome to our fourth of four episodes of the 2022 Spiritual Health series, focusing on altruism. It's our final episode of the year!

My guest is Linda K. Strohl, who received her education in Chicago and on the East Coast. She moved to Los Angeles after college. After spending 15 years in financial services as a stockbroker and financial planner, she managed the business affairs for entertainment people for several years. She was one of the first 50 women to become a Certified Financial Planner and still holds that certification.  In 1992, she left that field for non-profit management. She received her Non-Profit Management certificate from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University in 2018.

After her husband’s early death in 2004, she returned to Michigan, where she consulted on a number of different topics with local organizations, including Chikaming Open Lands, Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, Michiana Humane Society, Strong Women of Faith Breast Cancer Support Group and others. In 2011, she stepped in as interim director at Senior Nutrition Services, which now is known as Meals on Wheels of SW Michigan. She has been the Executive Director there since 2012, taking the organization from financial struggle to financial sustainability through effective leadership, management, program development, and fundraising.

Racial equity and justice have been core beliefs since high school and infused by her experience growing up on Chicago’s South Side. She brought this lens to the organization, ensuring that policies, procedures, and salaries reflect equity and ensuring that all staff has authentic voices in the organization.

Linda is active in the community: she has served on the Michigan Commission on Services to the Aging, a state body that oversees the work of Michigan’s senior services at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Health and Aging Services Administration. She also serves on the Berrien County Board of Health.

To relax, she is a voracious reader, practices yoga, runs, and spends time with her pandemic puppy, Malo.

You can find her on Facebook here and here.
