In this episode, Jyothi V. Robertson dives into the Metta practice or Loving-kindness practice, a tradition characterized by self-love, empathy, and compassion.

Loving-kindness meditation cultivates generous and altruistic love towards ourselves and others by anchoring our thoughts first on ourselves, then a neutral person, and finally on someone you find challenging while generating feelings of appreciation, friendliness, grace, and love.

The practice involves repeating a series of phrases to the loved one, a neutral person, a challenging person, and oneself (there are variations on this).

Phrases you may choose include:

Over time, this practice leads to self-healing, completeness, and gracious feelings towards others - in short, well-ness of mind and spirit.

The Journey You Own Online Meditation Gathering is a free sitting meditation session to create a shared, supportive space that brings people from animal welfare together to explore grounding practices.

This one-hour session happens every last Thursday of the month, held online via Zoom. Feel free to join anonymously with videos on or off, whatever feels most comfortable to you. Attendees register once and can attend any of the monthly sessions. Come when you are able, but we do ask that you keep your microphones muted upon entry, if arriving late.
