In Mark 7:31-37, Jesus is back in Israel near the Sea of Galilee. A large group of people bring him a man who is deaf and has a speech impediment and ask Jesus to help. And Jesus helps! The key to this story is the way Jesus helps. He does, of course, heal the man, but more importantly he heals him in a way that is meaningful to the man. He goes out of his way to ensure this man isn't a spectacle, but treats him with dignity and respect.
